The AgriFood XXI project focuses on different aspects of agricultural production chains and different food industries of particular importance to the North of Portugal, with the aim of contributing to increasing their profitability and sustainability by reducing their environmental impact and through mitigation of the impact of the environment on food production and quality. This project is structured into three complementary lines of investigation: Line 1 – Agrifood Chains Resilient to Climatic and Environmental Constraints. Line 2 – Advanced Technologies for Food Processing with a view to increasing its Safety, Quality, Nutritional Value and Sensory Characteristics. Line 3 – Valorization of food and agri-food by-products. This project is implemented by a multidisciplinary team of UNorte.pt – UMinho, UP and UTAD.
