The objectives were: (1) Promote excellent postgraduate training, based on internationally competitive research;(2) Promote collaboration and sharing of resources between Portuguese institutions, and contribute to strengthening the quality, relevance and international recognition of institutions;(3) Provide students with transversal professional skills so that they become excellent scientists and also active members of the academic and socioeconomic communities in which they find themselves.
