The breeding of small ruminants in mountain regions is based on a traditional production system based on extensive grazing and the direct use of existing natural resources. In this system, infections by gastrointestinal and pulmonary parasites are of particular importance, as they are considered the main pathological cause of production losses in small ruminant farming (growth delay, weight loss, decreased prolificacy and fecundity rates, rejections in slaughterhouse). The control of gastrointestinal and pulmonary parasites has been almost exclusively carried out through the indiscriminate and periodic application of broad-spectrum anthelmintics, leaving aside other control strategies. This mode of action has caused the emergence of serious problems of resistance to anthelmintics, which leads to serious problems. The main objective of this project is to contribution to the rational and sustainable use of antiparasitics in the production of small ruminants in regions of mountain
