Hip Dysplasia (AD) in dogs is a hereditary disease with a high prevalence worldwide. Some Portuguese breeds are affected, such as the Cão da Serra da Estrela (CSE) breed. Affected dogs may show no clinical signs or become incapacitated. In medical terms, radiographic diagnosis can be made and unaffected animals can be selected for reproduction, to avoid the transmission of genes to offspring or surgical treatment of affected animals. This strategy is used all over the world and the results have not been the best. This project aims to improve the provision and quality of its veterinary services.
